How to Read Beauty Reviews Online

Hello lovlies!  Forgive me for letting so much time lapse since my last post...  I have no excuse.  However, I do want to share with you something that dawned on me while I was surfing ulta.com just now, looking for a new foundation: there is a certain way that I navigate through online reviews.  If the website allows you to, set the review sorting order to "lowest rating", so that the lowest ratings of the product will be shown first.  In my opinion, it's better to read why people hate the product you are viewing rather than why they love it.  I find that the lower star reviews will give more honest and specific comments and this helps me out tremendously when deciding whether or not to add the product to my shopping cart!  Try this little trick out the next time you're shopping online and then let me know what you think of it.  Hope you enjoy the rest of your day and also have a fabulous upcoming weekend.  *muah*

Best Makeup Wipes

Hey beauties!  Happy New Year!  I apologize for making you wait so long for another posting.  But it's back to business now and I'll try my best to post more consistently this new year.

Ranking of makeup wipes:

7.) Forever 21- You know the saying "You get what you pay for"?  Well, this holds true with these wipes from F21.
6.) Pond's- You'd think the brand name wipe would hold the title for best wipe over its generic counterparts, but it does not.  These wipes are rough and dry.  Two things you don't want in a makeup wipe.  I couldn't wait for my package to be empty so that I could open up another package of Equate wipes.
5.) Kirkland (Costco)- These and the Up and Up wipes are actually tied.  They are both basic, moist wipes that work well.  I guess I placed these in 4th place because they cost more than Up and Ups, however you get a lot.  I'll let you know which value is better, but I'm guessing it'll be Kirkland.
4.) Up and Up (Target)- Basic wipes that will get the job done.
3.) Neutrogena- Specifically the makeup removing wipes in the light blue package.  I LOVE these wipes, they're soft, smell nice, and remove makeup well.  The one thing that I love about them that some of you may not agree with me about is that these wipes leave your face feeling moist, and even a little greasy, after using them.  If you have oily skin, you may not want this.  For those with drier skin (like me) may probably desire this.  This was the only wipe that I have ever wiped my face clean with for the night and not had to wash my face after!  The downfall about this wipe is that it is a little pricey for being a drugstore wipe.  I think 25 wipes go for about $6.  I think that's ridic.  Which is why I only buy these when they're on sale and when I have a coupon for them.
2.) MAC- I love these wipes too.  The downfalls of these wipes are that they are a little small, or rather a weird rectangle shape and they cost waaaay to much.  If you do end up splurging for these wipes, don't forget to save the packaging when you're through with them.  They count for recycling through MAC's recycling program!
1. Equate (Walmart)- And the winner is...  Equate!  These wipes are simply wonderful.  They are consistently moist, take off all of my makeup (even the stubborn type), and are also the best value!  120 wipes (2 packages) cost $6!  These wipes come with zero downfalls.  I'm so happy to have found them.  Hope they bring you happiness too!  =)

A tip for all makeup wipes- Store your package upside down!  It keeps your first/next makeup wipe the moist-est for ease of makeup removal.  Thanks for spending some time with me!  Love you!

15-Hour Makeup Day

So I just washed off my face of makeup that had been on since 7:45 am today and I must say, most of it barely even smudged.  IMPRESSIVE.  Here's what I wore:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion in original
  • 2 Urban Decay shadows from the BOS IV
  • Mary Kay Lash Love mascara-- Favorite mascara in the WORLD!!!  I hope it never get's DC'd...
  • L'oreal Lineur Intense in black.  (Not carbon black.)  This lasts waaaay longer and is just as dark!
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC42.  I love me some cake!  I felt like I needed full-coverage today.
Beauty Marks for all of these faves: A+
Good night lovlies!

Best Long-Wearing Foundation

Aloha beauties!  I just wanted to write a beauty quickie to let y'all know about an amazing foundation that lasted all day long through a few of my Hawaiian vacation days (the days I actually wore makeup).  I didn't even have to use a primer either!  This wonderful foundation was MAC's Pro Longwear Foundation!  I went to a MAC counter in Hawaii and the girl gave me sample of this (in NC42) and she said that she loved it because it lasts through Hawaii's humidity- she wasn't kidding!  I applied it early morning around 8 am and after a day FULL of sightseeing and being outdoors in the heat, the foundation still looked good at 10 pm that night!  Craaaazy right?  I still have some of my sample left, so I'm going to also test it out at work under normal conditions and I'll let you know how that goes.  So far though, I am totally sold on this foundation and I will be purchasing it very soon!

Cover Girl Intense Shadowblasts

Hey beauties!  OK so last night I went out and bought 3 more of these drugstore gems!  (Haha I love that phrase!)  I now own 4 of them and I will buy the other 2 very, very soon!  Here's the scoop:  These are lipgloss style cream eyeshadows which have primer built in.  They come in 6 colors: brown, blue, silver, pink, green, and beige.  I had the brown one for about a week and I used it a lot!  The application is easy, the wear time is all day, and the colors are so pretty!  They aren't as dark as the tube shows, but that's what I like about them...  They all give a pretty wash of color!  I haven't done this yet, but I am sure you could use these as primers for other shadows!  (Think Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin and Greed style!)  These sell for $8 a piece, BUT there are buy one, get one 50% off sales at Walgreens, Rite Aid, KMart every week and you can clip $1 off coupons in every Sunday paper, so you'll be able to get these for very cheap!  I'll post a pic of the product for now and later on today when I put my makeup on, I'll snap another shot.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
